Element of Patriotism in the Eearly Fication of Prem Chand
Abstract
Urdu fiction is rich in the sentiments of patriotism and national unity from the very beginning. In the latter half of the 19th century and the early 20th century, the freedom movement was characterized by a spirit of patriotism, which attracted people from all walks of life. In Urdu fiction, the movement of national awareness and freedom struggle was strengthened by patriotism. Premchand was the founder, pioneer of Urdu fiction writing and a fiction writer full of patriotic spirit. He highlighted the spirit of patriotism in his fiction from the very beginning. His fictions clearly show that patriotic feelings and love for the motherland can be transformed into a constructive force.Premchand's fiction grew out of patriotism, and he remained imbued with patriotism till the end. This paper examines in detail the themes of patriotism in Premchand's early fiction.
