Abstract

The genre of autobiography in Urdu literature is a profound and vibrant form of expression that unveils the layered truths of human experience. It transcends mere narration of events, becoming a spiritual and emotional mirror reflecting inner struggles, silent wounds, and fleeting moments. A powerful autobiographical work connects the writer’s truth with the reader’s own reflection, turning personal memories into collective resonance. In Urdu literature, the aap-beeti stands not just as a literary form, but also as a luminous torch illuminating the path of self-awareness, truth, and artistic integrity across time and society. The language of autobiography is not merely a style of prose, but a means of expressing the heart and mind with natural fluency. In this genre, we find a softness, smoothness, and spontaneous flow in the language that usually arises only from genuine emotions. Its structure is such that the words transparently convey the author's inner states, temperament, and experiential colors to the reader, without any artificiality as if the language itself becomes the author's biography.
