This study provides a critical analysis of the Urdu translation of Khalil Gibran’s prose, examining the challenges associated with literary translation. Gibran’s prose is deeply philosophical, poetic, and symbolically rich, making its translation a complex process requiring both linguistic proficiency and cultural sensitivity. The research applies Eugene Nida’s Dynamic Equivalence Theory to assess how well the Urdu translation preserves the rhetorical, aesthetic, and cultural essence of the original Arabic text. The paper specifically focuses on the Urdu translation of "Madhja‘ al-‘Ar?s" (The Bridal Bed) by Abu al-A‘la Chishti, analyzing its accuracy, stylistic fidelity, and the translator’s approach to conveying Gibran’s unique literary style. Through a comparative analysis of the original Arabic text and its Urdu rendition, the study identifies instances of omission, misinterpretation, and adaptation, highlighting their impact on the translation’s effectiveness. The findings emphasize that translating Gibran’s prose into Urdu requires more than literal accuracy; it demands a careful balance between linguistic precision and the recreation of the original’s poetic and philosophical depth.
