Postcolonial theory marks a revolutionary turn in twentieth-century intellectual and literary discourse. Emerging as a conscious resistance to political domination and cultural hegemony, it redefined power, culture, and identity. This paper analyzes the major architects of postcolonial thought Edward Said, Homi K. Bhabha, Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak, and Frantz Fanon—who exposed the ideological roots of colonialism and introduced new perspectives on power, language, and resistance. By examining their theories within historical and literary contexts, the study highlights the diversity and depth of postcolonial thought. It further underscores the theory’s relevance to Urdu literary criticism, offering new insights into colonial influences on language, culture, and identity.
