Abstract

Ahmed Mushtaq is considered as one of the representative poets of modern Urdu ghazal. The main themes of his ghazal include love, beloved and migration and extinction. He consistently presents social norms in his poetry along with other subjects. He is fully aware that the people of his homeland are not living a prosperous life. In this regard, he blames the attitudes of the people. He thinks that those who cannot distinguish between good and evil can never progress. Mushtaq's poetic tone is sympathetic instead of satirical. That is why his words reach the heart of the reader. Ahmed Mushtaq's style and presentation is very simple and smooth so he can easily conveyed his feelings to others. Undoubtedly, his ghazal is a true reflection of Pakistani society
