Different principles are established to measure the popularity of everything. There are also certain standards to evaluate and assess a national song. A national song should have the ability, in every era, to inspire noble emotions, a spirit of freedom, and pure patriotic passion. In terms of wording, it should possess a high degree of musicality, melody, and rhythm when read or sung. Its style should be unique, and its frequent presentation through various media should be considered an honor and a matter of pride for that medium. Because of music, new styles of songwriting emerge, and the tradition of songs becomes widely popular among the public. The means through which national songs gained popularity have changed across different eras, from the creation of Pakistan up to the present. However, there are many songs whose popularity has remained constant since independence. Through these widely admired national songs, a sense of national consciousness became an identity of Pakistan, and their creators came to be recognized among the leading voices of awareness.
