Recovering Vanishing Cultural Imprints in the Novel Jandar: An Analytical Study

Abstract

The novel Jandar occupies a distinguished position in Urdu fiction as it is not merely a literary narrative but also a significant repository of cultural consciousness, civilizational identity, and collective memory. This paper, entitled “The Recovery of Vanishing Cultural Imprints in the Novel Jandar: An Analytical Study”, aims to examine the cultural, social, and civilizational elements embedded in the novel that are gradually disappearing under the influence of modernity, globalization, urbanization, materialism, and rapidly changing social values. The study explores how the novelist, through artistic and intellectual insight, preserves rural culture, family structures, folk traditions, customs, language, patterns of living, social values, and human relationships, thereby constructing a compelling narrative of cultural recovery. The research adopts an analytical and interpretative methodology to investigate the cultural symbols, social practices, and civilizational references woven into the text
