Abstract

This research paper presents a comprehensive critical study of psychological realism in the Pakistani Urdu novel from the inception of the state in 1947 up to the contemporary literary landscape of 2026. While official historiography records the outer reality of geopolitical shifts such as the trauma of Partition, political coups, civil unrest, global conflicts, and the digital paradigm shift Pakistani novelists have consistently focused on documenting the "inner history" of the individual and collective consciousness.Spanning nearly eight decades, this study analyzes how the Pakistani novel evolved from capturing the immediate post-colonial identity crises and displacement trauma in the mid-20th century to portraying the complex existential fragmentation, alienation, and psycho-social disillusionment of the 21st century.
