This study examines the representation of child exploitation and socio-cultural marginalization in the Pakistani Urdu television drama Guru (2023). Directed by Hussain Abbasi and produced by Shazia Wajahat and Wajahat Rauf, Guru departs from conventional television themes to focus on severe societal crises affecting vulnerable populations. Through qualitative textual analysis, this paper investigates how television drama serves as a medium for public reflection and social critique. The study highlights how structural patriarchy manifests across four forms of exploitation: physical, sexual, emotional/psychological, and systemic neglect. It examines the psychological abuse faced by women and young girls, including forced infant abandonment driven by preference for male heirs and the denial of basic education. Concurrently, it addresses the intersectional marginalization of the Khawaja Sira (transgender) community and sex workers. A central focus is the transformative narrative of Sattar (Guru), a Khawaja Sira who rescues and raises an abandoned infant girl, Maryam, enabling her to become a doctor.
