Ignorance: A Tale of Alienation and Double Torment

Abstract

Migration is a topic that has been written about for ages in world literature. Humans inevitably go through this experience, sometimes voluntarily and sometimes under compulsion. Forced migration is undoubtedly a painful process. A novelist usually makes the hardships of migration the subject of discussion. There are very few writers who write about the experiences of return. The journey of return is always difficult. It is not easy to settle down again in places that you have left ages ago. Milan Kundera's novel Ignorance, which we have discussed in this article, beautifully describes the experience of migration, how our own land and the people who live there become strangers to us. No one wants to hear the story of the main characters of this novel during their time of migration. Thus, they remain strangers among their own land and people. This novel explains in detail the difference between migration and return life and attempts to reach the conclusion that until people who have gone through similar experiences meet, no one can understand the suffering of another.
