The Novel Jahan Abad Ki Galiyan: A Critical and Analytical Study

Abstract

This research article presents a critical and analytical study of Asghar Nadeem Syed's novel Jahan Abad Ki Galiyan. The study examines the novel's artistic structure, thematic concerns, language, characterization, dialogue, setting, flashback technique, symbolism, existential philosophy, historical consciousness, and political discourse. The novel primarily portrays the era of General Zia-ul-Haq's martial law, political oppression, suppression of freedom of expression, exile, resistance, and the existential crisis of the individual. The unnamed poet, who also serves as an Urdu teacher, emerges as a symbolic representation of resistance, identity crisis, and human suffering under an authoritarian regime۔
