The Significance of Indexing in Urdu

Abstract

The research paper, “An Explanatory Index of MPhil Research Papers Related to Novels at the University of Sargodha,” presents previous M.Phil research on Urdu novels in an organized and systematic manner. It provides brief details of each research paper, including its title, researcher, year, objectives, methodology, findings, and recommendations. The study is divided into four chapters dealing with the tradition, importance, and principles of explanatory indexing. The second and third chapters cover research on female and male novelists respectively, while the fourth discusses general, theoretical, artistic, social, cultural, intellectual, and comparative aspects of the Urdu novel. The research highlights the thematic, intellectual, and artistic diversity of Urdu novel studies at the University of Sargodha. It identifies major research trends and helps future researchers select new topics and access previous research easily. Thus, the paper is a valuable scholarly effort that promotes indexing and serves as a useful reference for Urdu novel research.
