Abstract

Linguistics is the scientific study of language. Language is the most important means of communication among human beings. In linguistics, language is studied from historical, comparative, applied and descriptive perspectives. The beginning of Urdu linguistic can be traced to Europe orientalists, who need grammar and dictionaries in order to learn Indian languages. Among the eastern scholar’s khan Arazu and insha ullah khan insha are particularly noteworthy. With the emergence of modern linguistics in the twentieth century scholars such as Mohiuddin qadri, Ehtisham Hussain, Naseer ahmad khan and Iqtidar Hussain made value able contributions. After the establishment of Pakistan, Pakistani linguists continue the tradition of Urdu linguistics and produced significant research and Critical works on various dimensions of linguistics.
