The Digital Age, Social Apathy, and Human Relationships: Semantic Dimensions of Afzal Murad’s Microfiction

Abstract

This research article critically examines selected micro fiction texts from Afzal Murad’s collection Mismār Ghar Kī Kahānī, focusing on social attitudes in the digital age, the complexities of human relationships, social apathy, and the psychological and emotional experiences of individuals. Afzal Murad’s micro fiction connects seemingly ordinary incidents of everyday life with broader social and human concerns through brevity, dialogic narration, symbolic expression, and semantic depth. His writings explore themes such as loneliness, ageing, alienation in human relationships, materialism, religious tolerance, the influence of mass media, and human empathy.
