Abstract

In Josh’s elegies, the fundamental Islamic beliefs, Tawhid (the oneness of God) Risalat (prophet hood) Adl (justice) and Qiyamat (the Day of Judgment) appear with great intensity. He presents Imam Hussain’s sacrifice as the true source of Islam’s strength and continuity. According to him, the battle of Karbala was in fact an eternal struggle between truth and falsehood, in which Hussain’s victory ensured the supremacy of Islam’s core message: divine unity and justice. Josh makes it clear that without the moral stance of Imam Hussain, Islamic civilization would have been reduced to a mere political system. His awareness elevates Islamic identity beyond ritualistic practices and links it to intellectual and ethical principles. For him, Hussainiyat is not simply a religious commemoration but a reservoir of collective consciousness against oppression, showing the practical path to preserving Islamic identity. Although Josh benefited from the traditional structure of the elegy, his style is not confined to lamentation.
