Abstract

This article explores the concept of imagery in the ghazal poetry of Nasir Kazmi, one of the most prominent modern Urdu poets. The study analyzes how Nasir Kazmi employs vivid and delicate imagery to express complex emotions such as loneliness, nostalgia, loss, and the passage of time. His poetic imagery is deeply rooted in everyday experiences, natural elements, and subtle psychological states, which together create a unique aesthetic atmosphere in his ghazals. The article highlights that Nasir Kazmi’s imagery is not merely decorative; rather, it serves as a powerful tool for conveying inner feelings and philosophical reflections. Through images of evening, rain, deserted streets, fading memories, and silent landscapes, the poet constructs a world that reflects both personal sorrow and collective human experience. His use of simple yet evocative symbols allows readers to connect emotionally with the poetic text while appreciating its artistic depth. In conclusion, the article argues that imagery plays a central role in shaping the thematic richness and emotional intensity of Nasir Kazmi’s ghazal poetry.
